‘Landroids’, robotics team formed by the high school students of Livingston Robotics Club (LRC), has received $600 worth sponsorship from Regal Bank.
The donation will help the team to better compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) World Championship, which will be held in St. Louis.
Recently, the Landroids team bagged the Delaware Diamond State Inspire Award in the FIRST contest, enabling them to participate in the World Championship. Around 100 teams from several parts of the world and the US will compete in the final contest.
LRC is looking for sponsorship to enable Landroids to effectively represent New Jersey and Livingston at the World Championship. Regal Bank’s funding will help the club to realize their mission.
Livingston Lancers Robotics of Livingston High School is the other robotics team from Livingston region. Landroids team has won several awards in science and robotics contests. It is the only team from New Jersey to participate in the FIRST World Championship.
The two teams also participated in the New Jersey FTC State Championship, which was held in February 11, 2011 in Newark, NJ. The contest was participated by around 48 teams from various regions like New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York and a Singapore team.
Monte Ehrenkranz, Vice President, Business Development of Regal Bank, has stated that they are so proud to be a sponsor of the Landroids team, which is striving hard for the world championship. Surasit Nithikasem, Secretary of LRC, has mentioned that they require more sponsorship to support the Landroids team.
Landroids will conduct the 4th annual Liberty Science Center Engineers Week robotics exhibition at the Liberty Science Center on February 21, 2011. The NJ FIRST award winning robotics team has been invited for a combined exhibition at the center.
