Meka Robotics has released Meka M1 Mobile Manipulator, a humanoid. The robot has a pair of nimble arms, a wheel base that can move in all directions and a head featuring the Microsoft Kinect sensor. The robot’s computer uses Meka Robotics’ real-time control software with the ROS annexure.
The M1 Mobile Manipulator is exclusively developed to function in human environments. It links three significant features like mobility, adroitness and conforming force control. The robot will be deployed initially in research applications, while analogous manipulators developed by pi4 robotics and Heartland Robotics are used in industrial applications.
The standard M1 humanoid can be availed with a prearranged group of manipulators like conforming grippers and compliant manipulators featuring a six axis force-torque sensors at the wrist. The head includes a built-in 5 megapixel Ethernet camera as well as a Kinect three dimensional camera. The wheel base of the robot is a movable compact platform along with a prism-like lift.
The company is looking forward to integrating their future M1 humanoid versions with several packages released by the ROS segment. The robot is highly customizable in that clients can select different hands, sensors and head for their robot.
