Harvey Industries Funds Robo Masters in FIRST Robotics Contest

Harvey Industries has announced that it will offer funding for the ‘Robo Masters’, robotics team formed by students of Golightly Career and Technical Center and Detroit Public Schools, to participate in the FIRST robotics contest.

The team will also take part in the official district contests, which will be held at Wayne State University in March and Athens High School in April.

FIRST organization was established by Dean Kamen to encourage students to improve their skills in science and technology. The contest is not just about developing robots. It also enables students to develop teamwork, professional skills, industrial relationship and community participation.

Jerome Harvey, CEO of Harvey Industries, has stated that their company feels proud to encourage initiatives aimed at exposing students to engineering and technology areas. He mentioned that students are offered practical experience by working with technical experts, enabling them to pursue jobs related to science and engineering areas. He added that their Detroit community can be improved by encouraging children to take up new challenges.
